It is a common practice followed by users to have an anti virus program installed on their computer system in order to get an advance intimation of the viruses that are going to attack their system and ruin their files. But how many of you know that the anti virus program installed to protect your system may actually become a threat to your dbx and mbx files.

This may seem a very strange and ironical fact that most of the dbx and mbx file corruption occur not due to the virus but rather anti virus programs that are actually installed and made configured to make a scan of all incoming and outgoing e-mails. If you are thinking that you will not face this problem as your anti-virus program is a good one, then please correct it as this problem may happen to any of the program, even the best one is not untouched. (more…)

Outlook Express is a powerful email client which is available with internet explorer for Windows. You can use this for receiving and sending mails to your friends and relatives. All the messages gets saved by default in your inbox and if further you want to make folders by grouping them in several categories and save, then Outlook express provides you this feature also.

But sometimes it happens that when you try to open your Outlook Express account, when your system is running on Window 2000 or Window XP, then you may not get your earlier Email messages displayed. This can be a big problem in some cases as it may contain some of your vital information.

This problem occurs when the profile of your is backed up to a local or remote shared drive and then a new user account is created and configured to use the backed up user profile and then you use the new account to log on and start Outlook Express.

Outlook express stores email messages with .dbx and .mbx extension which by default get saved in a local setting folder and when you back up a user profile in Window 2000 or XP the local setting folder doesn’t copied with the user profile as it contains some temporary files and data which doesn’t roam with the user profile being too large to roam effectively.

So to come up with the problem it has been advised by Microsoft to copy and store the .dbx files containing your Email messages to a location to which new user profile can gain access. After creating the new user account you can then import those files to Outlook Express.

The above mentioned procedure imparts the prevention but not the cure to the data which has already been lost with your email messages. To recover those files you need to adopt another technique called outlook express repair. These software are specially designed to work for recovery of dbx files which have been deleted or lost from Outlook express.

Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Standard - Email Recovery Software is one of the best software for this.
